Straighter Teeth Without Metal Braces
Invisalign – A Comfortable and Convenient Approach to Teeth Straightening
Would you like to improve your smile with minimal interference in your daily life? Don’t want to deal with metal brackets and wires plus frequent trips to an Orthodontist? The Invisalign® teeth straightening system may be just what you are looking for!
Invisalign takes a modern and innovative approach to straightening teeth by using a custom-made series of aligners designed specifically for you. The clear retainers will gently and gradually shift your teeth.
Invisalign can correct a number of orthodontic problems including: gapped teeth, misaligned teeth, overly crowded teeth, as well as problems with a bite (e.g. overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite).
Top Features of Invisalign
Comfort- Made with state-of-the-art technology, Invisalign aligners are made from smooth BPA-free plastic and are exceptionally comfortable. There is no risk of pain or discomfort from wires and protruding bits of metal that often irritate the mouth with traditional braces.
Appearance- The clear retainers mold so perfectly to your teeth that they are barely noticeable. Most people won’t even notice you are straightening your teeth.
Better Oral Hygiene- Unlike with metal braces, Invisalign aligners are removable so you can maintain your oral health by brushing and flossing as usual in addition to avoiding the challenges of dealing with food that gets stuck in metal braces.
Freedom to eat what you want- Another major benefit of having removable aligners is the ability to eat what you want. Because the retainers can be taken out during meals, they require no dietary restrictions. With traditional braces most hard, chewy, and sticky foods must be avoided.
How it Works
The process of straightening your smile with Invisalign is simple and hassle-free. In the initial consultation at his south Lakewood dentist office, Dr. Lueck will examine your teeth, answer any questions, and then discuss if Invisalign is right for you. If you are a good candidate, digital x-rays, molded impressions and photographs of your teeth will be taken in order to create your personalized treatment plan.
With this information the doctor can now, using Invisalign’s software, show you in detail how your teeth will be transformed and predict how long the process will take. In some cases, Invisalign attachments are necessary to augment the work of the aligners to move teeth as intended. These tiny and nearly invisible tooth-colored attachments, sometime called buttons, are temporarily bonded to certain teeth.
Once you receive your first Invisalign aligner, you should wear it for 20-22 hours a day. Usually you’ll have one aligner for every two weeks of treatment. The number of aligners that you’ll need will depend on how complex your treatment plan is. The doctor will give you a few aligners at a time.
Every six to eight weeks you will visit Dr. Lueck so he can check your progress and deliver new retainers. Once your optimal smile is achieved, a final retainer will be made for you to wear when you sleep in order to maintain your teeth alignment.
